The SENER Foundation presented the Best Doctoral Thesis Award to doctor Ibuki Kusano, from the School of Civil Engineering of the University of La Coruña, for her doctoral thesis entitled ‘Reliability Based Design Optimization of long-span bridges under flutter constraint’.

The President of the SENER Foundation, Juan Seijas, highlighted the excellent work undertaken in her doctoral thesis, specialized in bridge engineering, where it is still essential to have a range of reliable tools to design safe structures.

The Best Doctoral Thesis Award is an annual prize that aims to stimulate research of the highest level in the scientific and technical areas in which SENER operates, i.e. Aerospace, Infrastructures and Transport, Power, Oil & Gas, and Marine sectors. The jury therefore comprises professors from the aforementioned scientific and technological disciplines, as well as doctors from SENER’s technical team, and trustees of the SENER Foundation who also hold doctorates. It is awarded with 12,000 Euros for the author of the thesis and a further 3,000 Euros for the thesis supervisors.
